Product Spotlight: Audison Ford F-150 Sound Packs

Audison F-150

Great news for Ford F-150 truck owners! Audison has been hard at work developing its Sound Pack audio system upgrades for 2011 and newer Ford pickups. Based on the same philosophy as the BMW and Mini systems, 2011 and newer vehicles with XL, XLT, Lariat and Raptor trim levels can be upgraded with new speakers, a subwoofer and a custom-tuned five- or eight-channel amplifier with integrated digital signal processing.

Choose Your Performance Level

Audison F-150One of the many benefits of these Sound Pack upgrade solutions is the Online Configurator that helps you and the mobile enhancement retailer you’ve chosen to install the system pick the right components and performance level for your truck’s specific model year and trim level. The upgrades use the Prima-Series APK 690 6×9-inch or APK 570 5×7-inch component speaker system for the front doors and the matching APX 6.5 coaxial speaker for the rear doors with dedicated mounting brackets to ensure the installation performs reliably and sounds great.

Audison F-150The Level 8 systems use the five-channel AP5.9 bit amplifier to power the front and rear speakers along with a subwoofer. Stepping up to the Level 10 systems swaps in the eight-channel AP8.9 bit amplifier to bi-amp the front component set for a more accurate soundstage. Level 10 systems use the powered APBX 10 AS subwoofer with the processed subwoofer output on the amplifier to deliver solid bass performance and impressive dynamics.

Ford-specific Audio System Tuning

Audion F-150Audison sent one of its top engineers to North America to help design and tune these upgrade packages. After weeks of complex acoustic measurements and detailed listening evaluations, Audison created a set of vehicle-specific digital signal processor (DSP) configurations for each Prima plug-and-play upgrade package.

Each configuration is specific to an upgrade package and the trim level of Ford truck in question. Settings for crossovers, output levels, equalization and signal routing have been completed on your behalf to make the integration process efficient and get you back on the road in a matter of hours with amazing sound.

Integrated System Control

Audison F-150Thanks to a partnership with iDatalink, each of these vehicle-specific solutions includes a Maestro AR amplifier replacement interface and a vehicle-specific wiring harness. Using this interface allows volume control and tone adjustment commands from the factory source unit to be sent directly to the DSP in the amplifier to control the system. Your new Audison amp will function just like the factory amp, but with improved clarity and detail.

Audison has truly thought of everything, even including speaker cable adapters so that your installer doesn’t have to cut any wires in the vehicle to complete the installation. Speaker mounting adapters are also included to expedite the installation process.

What Makes Prima Plug-and-Play Systems Amazing

Audison F-150Tuning the speakers in your audio system for the environment they are installed in is what separates a simple stereo component installation from a true audio system upgrade. Without proper equalization, signal delay and level settings, all you get is sound from each speaker. When set up by an expert, your music will come from a virtual soundstage that spans the width of the vehicle and delivers accurate placement of instruments and performers across that stage. One of the key features of the Prima Sound Packs is that the tuning work has been done for you. Your installer can download the DSP configuration and upload it to the bit-series amplifier. You even have your choice of a driver-focused tune or one that sounds good from both seats.

Upgrade Your Ford F-150 with Audison Prima

If you are tired of boring sound from the stereo in your Ford F-150, drop by your local authorized Audison retailer and ask about the new plug-and-play Sound Packs. The difference in detail, accuracy and realism will blow your mind!

Product Spotlight: Audison Prima Forza AP F8.9 bit

Audison AP F8.9 bitBased on the roaring success of the original Prima-Series AP 8.9 bit eight-channel amplifier, Audison has announced a successor with even more features and performance in the form of the Prima Forza AP F8.9 bit. This new amplifier adds additional power to each of its eight channels, includes an integrated digital signal processor (DSP) and adds support for the iDatalink Maestro AR integration module and enhanced OEM integration features. The result is an easy-to-install upgrade solution that works with almost any vehicle.

High-Power Eight-Channel Amplifier

Audison AP F8.9 bitThe AP F8.9 bit measures 9.37 by 6.1 inches and stands only 1.95 inches tall. All connections, including signal inputs, speaker outputs and the eight-gauge power connections, are made along the front edge of the amplifier to ensure a clean and tidy installation in even the most cramped locations.

Each channel of the new AP F8.9 bit is capable of producing up to 85 watts of power to drive your speakers to very realistic listening levels. Loading each channel down to 2 ohms increases power production to a healthy 130 watts, and your installer can bridge any pair of channels to drive a subwoofer like the APBS 10 S4S with as much as 260 watts.

Nine-Channel Digital Signal Processor

Audison AP F8.9 bitThe AP F8.9 bit includes a nine-channel DSP that includes input signal de-equalization along with system configuration and tuning options like a 10-band parametric equalizer, signal delay up to 15 mSec in 1.1-inch steps and flexible electronic crossovers on each channel. This amplifier is compatible with the Audison bit Tune processor that provides authorized retailers an efficient and reliable way to configure your new sound system for optimal imaging and natural frequency response.

A rotary control on the amp provides quick access to eight preconfigured presets to speed up the installation process. Audison also offers vehicle-specific configurations from its online database for use with its BMW, Mini, Volkswagen and Ford F-150 Sound Pack upgrades.

The optional DRC MP remote control is compatible with the AP F8.9 bit to serve as a master volume control, a bass level control and to provide access to the two configuration presets. Your installer can integrate the DRC MP into your dash or center console to make adjusting your sound system safe and easy while you drive.

iDatalink Maestro AR and Factory Stereo Integration Features

Audison AP F8.9 bitSupport for the iDatalink Maestro AR amplifier replacement interfaces as a key part of the vehicle integration flexibility of the AP F8.9 bit. The AR modules allow your installer to replace your factory amplifier with an AP F8.9 bit while retaining all the control, functionality and convenience of your factory source unit. Many AR applications include CAN data network connectivity to relay volume control commands from the factory radio to the Audison amp, and features like warning chimes, Bluetooth audio streaming and navigation voice prompts will all continue to function flawlessly.

This new amplifier includes six RCA preamp inputs and Universal Speaker Simulator (USS) technology on its six speaker-level inputs to ensure that factory-installed amplifiers and source units with “load detection technology” continue to function properly. A second RCA input pigtail harness is included for connection to aftermarket source units.

The built-in Automatic Remote Turn-on (ART) and Automatic Signal Turn-on (AST) circuits monitor the speaker-level inputs to enable the amp automatically as soon as your factory radio turns on. In many new vehicles, the start-up process takes place when you open your car door, so the infotainment system is ready to go as soon as you sit down to drive.

As part of Audison’s Full DA digital audio design, the amp also includes an optical TOSLINK input that will accept digital signals up to 24-bits at 192 kHz from products like the Audison bit Play HD, a MOST vehicle integration solution such as the bit DMI, or one of the many vehicle integration solutions from other brands.

Amazing Performance in a Compact Package

If you are interested in improving the sound of your mobile audio system, visit your local authorized Audison retailer and ask for a demonstration. Whether you choose to use this amp with the factory speakers and add a subwoofer, or upgrade everything for dramatically improved performance, the Prima Forza AP F8.9 bit amplifier is a perfect solution.

Product Spotlight: Audison Prima Subwoofers

Audison Prima SubwoofersThe Prima series of amplifiers and speakers from Audison is highly regarded for its installation flexibility and impressive performance. The most recent additions to the Prima line are three new component subwoofers and five loaded subwoofer enclosures. Like the Prima amps and speakers, the new Audison Prima subwoofers are designed as a perfect upgrade to any factory-installed audio system.

Prima Shallow-Mount Subwoofers

Audison Prima SubwoofersThe new Prima subwoofers include two eight-inch models and a 10-inch. The APS 8 D and APS 10 D feature dual four-ohm voice coils with suspension designs optimized for compact sealed enclosures. The APS 8 R subwoofer has a single four-ohm voice coil and is intended for use in a bass-reflex (vented) enclosure.

All three subwoofers are optimized to provide excellent output. The shape of the woofer cone is angled to clear the spider mounting ledge to increase excursion capabilities. The APS 8 R and APS 8 D are specified as having an Xmax (one-way cone travel limit) of 8.8 mm and the APS 10 D can move 11 mm in each direction.

The APS subs feature a vented pole piece that allows hot air to escape from the inside of the motor structure and peripheral vents underneath the spider mounting plateau to keep the outside cool. This second row of vents allows reliable operation when sub is mounted near the back wall of an enclosure.

Audison Prima SubwoofersThe APS 10 D has a mounting depth of 3.46 inches and stands out 1.23 inches from the mounting surface. The driver is optimized to function well in enclosures with a volume as small as 10 liters (0.35 cubic feet). The APS 8 R and APS 8 D subwoofers have a mounting depth of 3.11 inches and extend forward 0.98 inches. The APS 8 D will work in 7.5-liter (0.26 cubic-foot) enclosures while the APS 8 R needs a mere 8.5-liter (0.30 cubic-foot) vented design. The larger vented enclosure will provide roughly 4 dB more output around 50 Hz for a given input signal.

Loaded Subwoofer Enclosures

Audison Prima SubwoofersEach of the new subwoofers is available loaded in a custom-tailored enclosure. The enclosures are constructed from medium-density fiberboard and include internal bracing for excellent rigidity. Rounded corners give the enclosures a bespoke look that blends nicely with modern vehicle interiors.

Your installer can mount the enclosure with the sub facing upward into the listening area for excellent upper bass impact or use the provided mounting feet to fire the sub down into the floor to enhance low-frequency output. Audison calls this design 2 Sides 2 Sounds or 2S2 for short. The optional mounting feet include hook-and-loop fasteners to help keep the enclosure in place.

The terminal cup on the side of each enclosure includes a connector that makes the system instantly compatible with Audison Prima Plug & Play connectors. Of course, high-quality spring-loaded terminals are also included so the enclosures can be used with any amplification solution.

Prima Active Subwoofer Enclosures

Audison Prima SubwoofersAudison has also introduced eight- and 10-inch sealed enclosures with built-in amplifiers. The unique Class D amplifiers feature a design called he·li or High Efficiency-Low Impedance. The drivers used in the powered enclosures have the same mechanical design as their APS 8 D and APS 10 D brethren but use low impedance voice coils. This design allows the amplifiers to work directly with the voltage supplied by the vehicle electrical system and negates the need for, and efficiency losses associated with, a switching power supply. The result is 250 watts for the APBX 8 AS and an impressive 400 watts for the APBX 10 AS enclosures.

Audison Prima SubwoofersBoth amplified subwoofer enclosure solutions include electronic variable crossovers, adjustable phase and a bass boost circuit. The amplifiers will accept speaker-level inputs or a preamp signal and include automatic turn-on circuitry for use when connected to a factory-installed audio system. Electrical connections are on a quick-connect plug that allows the enclosure to be removed easily. Both enclosures include an HRC AP remote level control to allow you to adjust the bass level from the front seat.

Enclosure Dimensions:

Model Width Height Depth

APBX 8 R 18.62” 13.15” 5.16”
APBX 8 DS 14.84” 13.15” 5.16”
APBX 8 AS 15.2” 11.73 6.22”
APBX 10 DS 18.58” 13.15” 5.59”
APBX 10 AS 18.11” 13.31” 6.22”

Adding a subwoofer is the best and easiest way to improve the performance of your stereo. Audison’s new Prima subwoofers provide you the option of a drop-in solution or give your installer the opportunity to create something unique for your vehicle. Visit your local authorized Audison retailer to experience the new Prima subwoofers for yourself.

Product Spotlight: Audison Full DA HD System

Audison Full DAAudison has embraced the digital domain with its Full DA HD series of products. By way of a backstory, we’ve been able to enjoy our favorite music on compact disc since August 1982. Fast forward to 1995 and we saw the birth of SACD, DVD-Audio and DAD formats with higher sampling rates and greater resolution. These formats marked the beginning of the high-resolution audio industry, and the Audison Full DA HD systems can now take advantage of these formats.

The Full DA HD Philosophy

In a conventional audio system, digital music is converted to analog before it leaves the source unit. Our DSP converts it back into digital, processes the signal, and then converts it back to analog to send to our amplifiers. Audison was wise enough to ask whether our music could remain in the digital domain from the source, right up to our amplifiers.

Full Digital Signal Source

Audison Full DAThe Full DA HD philosophy starts with the amazing bit Play HD. This digital media player is designed specifically for automotive applications. It will play FLAC and WAV files encoded at 96 kHz and 24-bit resolution from an internal 240GB SSD drive or a USB stick. The system is also compatible with AAC, MP3 and OGG audio formats and a variety of 1080p video formats including AVI, DivX, MKV and Xvid formats.

The bit Play HD includes an easy-to-use graphical interface that can integrate with an existing color infotainment screen. If you don’t have a display available, you can control the system from your iPhone or Android phone using a dedicated application. Audison kindly includes a Wi-Fi dongle to make connecting to your phone easy.

The bit Play HD includes a Toslink output that supports the full 96kHz/24-bit file information. This digital output can connect to any Audison DSP with a Toslink input for crystal-clear sound.

Full Digital Signal Processing

Audison Full DAWith the introduction of the bit One HD, installers can now configure equalization, crossovers, signal delay and level control for up to 13 channels in the digital domain without the need for any analog conversion. Equipped with state-of-the-art signal processing and the ability to handle high-resolution files, the bit One HD can transform almost any speaker configuration into a studio reference experience.

The output of the bit One HD includes two sets of RJ45 connectors. The first pair covers channels one through eight and the second pair handles channels nine through 13. The Toslink signal on these connections remains in the digital domain and connects directly to any of the Audison Full DA HD compatible amplifiers.

Full Digital Amplification

Audison Full DAAudison has two amazing amplifier families directly compatible with the Full DA HD output of the bit Play HD. The Thesis TH uno, TH due and TH Quattro will accept the AD Link and AC Link inputs right out of the box. The Voce Series AV5.1k HD includes a pair of AD and AC Link inputs and the AV uno, AV due, AV Quattro and AV 5.1k are upgradable with the AV bit IN HD digital interface.

In all applications, the conversion from digital to analog takes place inside the amplifier to produce an audio signal with exceptional bandwidth and freedom from background noise. Each amplifier includes a digital address control, allowing for up to 10 amplifiers to be on the AC Link network and recognized by the bit One HD. The control panel handles routing of signals to the appropriate output channel.

System Options and Accessories

The bit Play HD includes the DRC MP controller that can act as master volume control and provides access to different presets within the system. If you drive a European vehicle that uses the MOST audio protocol, the bit DMI interface will provide a full-bandwidth optical Toslink signal to one of the two inputs on the bit One HD.

What Are the Benefits of a Full DA HD System?

Conventional analog pre-amp level signals are often in the millivolt range and can pick up unwanted interference as the interconnect cables run past computers, sensors or high current wiring in the vehicle. Digital signals are functionally impervious to radiated noise. The difference is akin to TV manufacturers describing their screens as having blacker blacks. Fire up your bit Play HD, pick a song and enjoy!

Experience Audio Like Never Before

If you are searching for an exceptional audio experience for your vehicle, visit your local authorized Audison dealer and ask about the Full DA HD system. They would be happy to design a sound system that offers exceptional detail, accuracy and realism. Even if you already have a system, ask for a demonstration. We know that you will be impressed.
